Brother is expanding its sustainability efforts with a new partnership with Clean Ocean Action

Strengthens Brother’s existing commitments and programs dedicated to sustainability

BRIDGE WATER, NJ, April 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Today, in the run-up to Earth Day, Brother International Corporation (Brother) announces this new partnership along with a number of Corporate Social Responsibility Activities and environmental actions across the organization – strengthening local and global efforts to combat climate change.

Brother announced a new partnership, CSR activities and environmental actions to fight climate change.

Brother announces a new partnership with Clean Ocean Action, a leading national and regional voice fighting to protect waterways through science, as a sponsor of the 37th Annual Beach Sweeps Event. This includes the sponsorship of two Covid compliant Beach Sweeps events open to the public New Jersey and a virtual lunch and learning hosted by a Clean Ocean Action representative on Earth Day, available to all Brother employees to learn more about protecting our oceans.

Additionally, on Earth Day, Brother employees make their annual Brother Earth Promise, an individual commitment to protecting the environment such as: B. Tackling pollution through recycling and reducing the use of single-use plastics.

Brother’s partnership with Clean Ocean Action builds on Brother’s existing flagship environmental programs such as New Jersey for the past decade, a long-standing sponsorship of the Wolf River Conservancy Restoration Series, which includes lectures and volunteer events related to the restoration of the Wolf River West Tennesseeand annual $25,000 Donate to the Arbor Day Foundation to support their mission to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.

These activities complement Brother’s ongoing sustainability commitments, including the commitment to meet EPEAT requirements, the Brother product recycling program, the Brother toner and ink cartridge recycling program, the Brother environmental management system and ENERGY STAR® qualified products.

Brother regards the environment as a social responsibility of a manufacturing company at all stages of a product’s life cycle, from development, design and manufacture to use, disposal and reuse. In fact, over the last 5 years (2016-2020), Brother Americas has reduced its carbon emissions by 9.7% and by over 30% since 2012. Brother has remanufactured more than 5.5 million toner cartridges (2017-2021) and recycles more than 99% of its waste, with less than 1% of waste going to landfill. Brother has also supported biodiversity conservation and restoration activities across America $650,000 donated, 159,369 trees planted (US/CAN) and 26,843,750 square feet of rainforest protected Guatemala through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
