Canon launches new affordable 4-in-1 multifunction printer
With this, the PIXMA TR4720, Canon has expanded its already extensive range of home office printers. As a 4-in-1 device, the TR4720 can print, copy, scan and even fax. It also offers multiple connectivity options, including direct wireless printing from Canon’s mobile device apps.

The printer also has voice activated Smart Assistant support for compatible Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices. A front 100-sheet paper tray allows easy, space-saving loading of media, while multi-page scanning and copying is made possible thanks to the top-mounted automatic document feeder. The TR4720 is also able to automatically print on both sides to save paper.
Unusually for modern printers, the TR4720 uses only a single black and a single multicolor ink cartridge, although XL capacity cartridges are also available to significantly improve printing performance. The print resolution is 4800 x 1200 dpi, with the black cartridge using pigment ink for richer text definition and the color cartridge using dye-based ink for smoother gradients. The maximum printing speed is 8.8 images per minute in black and white and 4.4 images per minute in color, with a borderless 6 x 4 inch color print in about 65 seconds.
The flatbed scanner on the TR4720 offers a maximum scan resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi and can be controlled via a simple 2-line LCD display next to it – unfortunately no large color touchscreen here. However, a numeric keypad is provided to support sending faxes through the built-in 33.6 kbps fax modem.
The PIXMA TR4720 is available with either a white or black exterior finish, is relatively compact at 17.2 “(W) x 11.7” (D) x 7.5 “(H) and weighs 12.7 lbs. It is available now available in the US at $ 99.99.
The launch coincides with the European release of the new PIXMA TR4650, which, although given a different model number, appears to be an identical design and specification to the TR4720.
