Epson is targeting the growing home office market with new EcoTank multifunction printers

Epson’s latest EcoTank printers – the ET-2811, ET-3800, ET-4800, and ET-4850 – are aimed at the home office.

The main feature of Epson’s EcoTank range is the way that ink is refilled from inexpensive bottles instead of cartridges, resulting in a far lower cost per page. And the company’s EcoFit auto-stop filler design makes refilling clean and easy, and prevents the wrong color ink from being added to a tank.

To reflect the move to working from home, Epson has added four new models specifically designed for the home office.

The printers offer a variety of higher capacity paper trays, fax, larger color touchscreens, automatic document feeder (ADF), duplex printing, and Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity. A one-year warranty is standard, but is extended to two years upon registration.

The $ 399 EcoTank ET-2811 is rated at 10 pages per minute for black and white or 5 pages per minute in color, and comes with enough ink to produce approximately 8100 pages in black and 6500 color pages. Although it’s only Wi-Fi, it has the convenience of Wi-FI Direct.

The EcoTank ET-3800 ($ 549; pictured above) offers duplex printing, an Ethernet interface, AirPrint support, and a 2.4-inch color LCD. Print speeds are increased to 15.5 pages per minute for black and white and 8.5 pages per minute for color. There is enough ink for around 14,000 black and white pages and 5200 color pages.

If you need fax functionality or an ADF for the scanner, the EcoTank is available for $ 499 ET-4800. Like the ET-3800, it has both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity (including AirPrint), but the ET-4800 has a smaller (1.44-inch) display and can print at 10 pages per minute in black and white and 5 pages per minute in color. And it only comes with enough ink for about 3600 pages in black and white and 6500 pages in color.

Finally there is the EcoTank ET-4850 ($ 649), which seems to combine the best features of the other three: duplex printing (up to 15.5 pages per minute in black, 8.5 pages per minute in color), fax, ADF on scanner, Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity (with AirPrint support), the 2.4-inch display and enough ink for around 14,000 black and 5,200 color pages.

The new printers work with Epson’s Smart Panel app so users can set up, monitor, print and scan an Android or iOS device.
