Get ready for 7/10, the new high holy holiday, also known as International Blob Day or Oil Day.

Cannabis culture is doubling down on the magic of 4/20 with its stoner sequel, the July 10th 7/10 celebration, which focuses on hash oil, extracts, shatter and wax. [FEATURED]

Does legal marijuana craze really need it Another Calendar holiday for cannabis? Well, San Francisco hosts the Dore Alley/Up Your Alley Fair in late July, just before it gets leather-clad again for the Folsom Street Fair in late September. So when the leather gang has two holidays, the question isn’t whether we need another marijuana holiday, but why it took us so long to start a second one.

And the second is known as 710, aka 7/10, aka July 10th. It is like 4/20 as it is a holiday associated with the use of very large amounts of cannabis.

But on 10.07. the focus is on cannabis oils – hash oil, vape oil, wax, shatter, extracts and dabs. It is assumed that the date and the digit “710” were chosen because this numbering “OIL” is upside down. Sort of like middle school when we held the calculator upside down so it could spell dirty words.

The origins of this cannabis oil holiday are unclear, but it seems to have blossomed about 10 years ago when the first states like Colorado and Washington started the era of legal recreational cannabis. This coincides with the wider acceptance of newfangled smoking devices like vape pens, dab rigs and finally the modern ‘pod devices’ from brands like PAX, STIIIZY and Dosset, all available right to your door from Eaze.

If you’re new to this world of vape pods, dab rigs, and “live resin,” these are the absolute most potent cannabis products on the legal market. You sometimes need special equipment to smoke, but that’s not always the case. The oils and extracts family are cannabis products that hit faster and hit your brain almost instantly.

Some say these products are less harsh on your lungs, although this hasn’t been scientifically proven. And if you ever hear someone cough after hitting their dab rig, that doesn’t sound particularly healthy.

But smoking 7/10 extracts is for the hardest hardcore smokers. Your favorite dispensaries and delivery services are likely to have 7/10 deals for the holidays, and these cannabis products are still available in your familiar indica, sativa, and hybrid categories.

VAPE CARTRIDGES

The most commonly used form of cannabis oil is the regular vape cartridge, a simple and easy-to-use cartridge full of cannabis oil that plugs directly into the standard 510-compatible vape pen (often referred to as a “battery”). Vape cartridges are commonly sold in either half-gram or one-gram cartridges, and these are incredibly easy to smoke anywhere, leaving little odor in your vaping after-effects.

ALL-IN-ONE CARTRIDGES

The all-in-one cartridge is the disposable version of a vape cartridge combined with a vape pen. Except in this case, the cartridge and pen are the same device. There’s no junk drawer full of chargers and batteries like there are vape pen collectors, but there’s certainly no compromise on the quality of premium cannabis oil.

CONCENTRATES

Cannabis concentrates are the most sensationally potent forms of smokeable cannabis, chemically reduced to “just the good”. Concentrates come in tiny packages, although they often have potencies of 90% THC or more, and smoking the size of a grain of rice will often leave you too stunned to think straight.

You will hear about several types of concentrates; Shatter, wax, dabs, hash oil or extracts. Each varies in consistency, but when you smoke them you know you’re generally in for a trip to Jupiter. While concentrates are generally smoked using a special form of bong known as a dab rig, it is also possible to spread portions of the solution onto the surface of a pre-roll or edible and consume it while smoking or eating.

And there will always be a special place for pre-rolls, gummies, and baked goods in the cannabis pantheon. These particular items will always be popular with cannabis inquisitors for their crossover appeal. But folks who have smoked every day since they got their driver’s license know that oils and extracts work magic for advanced users, and 7/10 is the day to take these advanced users’ causes forward.
