Partnership promotes reliable and efficient high-performance windshield bonding for demanding conditions
Henkel and BRABUS strengthen windshield network
For maximum occupant protection, the independent premium aftermarket today needs high-performance adhesives and sealants for replacing windshields that can withstand higher wind loads, increase torsional rigidity and increase occupant safety.
BRABUS, the world’s largest independent high-performance tuner, turns to the trustworthy adhesive partner Henkel when it comes to securing progressive windshield installations for its demanding “supercar” transformations and classic car restorations. This includes Teroson window adhesives and the Teroson Bond window adhesive application system. Henkel offers body and automotive workshops a complete package for pretreatment and application with cutting tools, cleaner, primer, adhesive and equipment to support a simple and efficient window change.
“BRABUS has made it its business to take performance to the next level. We have been working with Henkel for several years because we trust that Teroson will reliably support our conversions and new assemblies in order to significantly exceed the performance of series vehicles. The innovative adhesives and application system ensure that the windshield fittings can withstand the toughest conditions and meet our special high requirements, “says Sven Gramm, Head of Communication at BRABUS.
As windshields have evolved from simple glazing applications to integrated structural and safety-related parts of the vehicle body, direct glazing adhesives must meet a broader range of performance requirements – from essential flexibility to absorb vibrations, to a tight seal, to structural reinforcement, to occupant protection, the is required in advanced, modern vehicle designs.
Matthias Biegel, technology and segment engineer at Henkel, adds: “Thanks to our long-standing, close collaboration with BRABUS, we are constantly developing Henkel’s adhesives portfolio to meet the increasing requirements. In addition to the very important processing properties, the safety of the occupants is our top priority, which is why we not only test our premium windscreen adhesives under standard conditions, but all premium adhesives are tested and evaluated with the Henkel standard test under significantly higher loads in order to achieve maximum To ensure occupant protection and to provide an additional layer of trust for our customers. ”
The Teroson Bond windshield adhesive application system from Henkel meets the increasing demands on economy and service in the automotive aftermarket and supports a more efficient workflow when removing and replacing windshields in workshops. It offers a complete tool kit for support and enables the work to be carried out by just one operator. Each product has been given a new cartridge label to make it even easier to select and use the system.
Also used by BRABUS in connection with the broader Henkel portfolio of direct glazing adhesives and sealants, the product highlights of the new system include:
- Teroson bond 60: a first-class 1-component and solvent-free polyurethane (PU) adhesive for the safe and reliable replacement of car glass. The high-performance window adhesive offers unique advantages to the market as it is OEM approved. It has a safe drive-away time of only 60 minutes (with airbags) in accordance with FMVSS 212/208. In addition to the industry standard – FMVSS 212/208: 48 km / h (30 mph) and 100% frontal – Henkel also tests against its new Henkel Crash Test Standard, which realistically reproduces a common crash scenario in the city at higher speeds: 64 km / h (40 mph) and 40% overlap. The low conductivity of the product also means that it is compatible with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) sensors and high voltage battery vehicles. Processing and positional tack is easy, clean and quick thanks to the thread and sag free properties of the adhesive, as well as the use of the comprehensive pretreatment and application system.
- Teroson Bond Easy Cut is a light and easy-to-use disc removal tool with braided polyethylene cord to prevent paint damage that can occur through the use of conventional metal cords or oscillating knives. It is also the perfect dismantling tool especially for aluminum bodies.
-
the Teroson Bond glass cleaner prepares the adhesive surface optimally and cleans it. In combination with the Teroson ET sponge, a very high cleaning performance is achieved. The cleaner is water-based and has a short evaporation time even in cold weather.
-
The ultra-abrasive, solvent-resistant Teroson Bond sponge enables the reliable removal of dirt from windshields before gluing.
- Teroson Bond all-in-one primer for the pretreatment of adhesive surfaces. It promotes the adhesion and UV protection of the window adhesive when it is applied as a base layer for the polyurethane bead. Evaporation is fast – approx. 2 minutes even in a cold environment for 1-component adhesives.
-
the Teroson ET gun Powerline II The dispensing tool has an integrated pressure increase in the ratio of 3: 1. This makes the dispensing tool multifunctional and can also be used for special adhesive and sealing applications such as flat and wide jet. Light, balanced construction. No blasting of cartridges, even at high application pressures.
Henkel Key Account Manager Björn Wesch is pleased about the closer cooperation with BRABUS: “We are very proud to be the preferred supplier of high-performance materials for BRABUS. Performance vehicles like their super sports cars place extremely high demands on our products. We see ourselves only as suppliers, we see this relationship as a great opportunity for their high standards and their know-how to take our products and services to the next level. ”
