HP Australia launches Generation Impact in partnership with the Ocean Impact Organization to enable next generation innovations for a healthy ocean
HP’s Generation Impact Incubator will be unveiled at Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021, giving young Aussies the chance to bring their ocean protection ideas to life as HP announces that over 50 of its products contain ocean-bound plastics.
HP Australia has partnered with startup accelerator Ocean Impact Organization (OIO) to launch Generation Impact Incubator, a program that seeks out the next generation of eco-innovations in Australia and gives young Australians the opportunity to experience their Bringing ideas to life to protect the oceans.
Destined to witness the worst effects of plastic pollution and deteriorating ocean health, we are told that “Young Australians hold the key to accelerating much-needed innovation for the ocean” and that “HP’s Generation Impact Incubator.” the solutions of passionate, determined young Australians to transform marine health and protect the future of future generations. “
Both organizations state that Australians “have an innate connection to the sea, who live on the largest island on earth and 80% of us live in coastal areas.
“As the life support system of planet earth, which covers 72% of the earth and provides half of our oxygen, oceans are critical to our future as a number of other challenges that threaten our blue planet. In Australia we use 3.5 million tons of plastic annually, with five kilograms of plastic per person ending up in the oceans each year, more than three times the global average. “
Mike Boyle, General Manager of HP Australia and New Zealand, said, “At HP we want to make everyone’s life better and we have set an ambitious agenda to address some of the planet’s most pressing problems, including saving our oceans. And while we’re making great strides, we know that real, lasting impact is being made through partnership and on a large scale. We’re excited to be working with the Ocean Impact Organization at Ocean Impact Pitchfest 2021 and through Generation Impact to bring together the brightest minds of Australia’s next generation to turn simple ideas and thoughts into breakthrough solutions that can benefit the ocean. “
HP’s Generation Impact will debut at the Ocean Impact Organization’s annual Pitchfest event, where Australian innovators are featured and celebrated with ideas that will make a positive difference to our ocean.
Nick Chiarelli, CEO and Co-Founder of the Ocean Impact Organization, said, “Our annual pitch festival brings together startups and entrepreneurs from around the world who are working to make a positive impact on the ocean. We’re excited to have HP Australia support us in our quest to improve marine health through inspiration, innovation and good business. We continue to see and hear how eager people are to contribute to a better way and a better future. We are excited to use the ideas of young Australians to improve the way we live and help Australia lead the way in creating a positive impact on the oceans. “
The Generation Impact winner will have access to funding, technology and expert mentoring from HP Australia and the Ocean Impact Organization to help them bring their ocean innovation to life.
The partnership also stems from HP’s ambitious agenda to become the world’s most sustainable, fairest tech company, founded in June 2021.
