Konica Minolta US fixes fire in the toner factory

By Andy Slawetsky – On September 27, Konica Minolta released a statement regarding an explosion and fire at their Tatsuno subcontractor factory in Japan.

That statement said, “Office product toners will continue to be shipped so that customers can continue to print. Regarding toners for on-demand digital printing systems, we are trying to recover at an early stage, including the introduction of alternative toners … “

When asked about the situation for US customers, Kay Fernandez, Deputy Head, Global DX Branding, SVP Marketing at Konica Minolta said:

“We are grateful that there were no injuries in the explosion at the Konica Minolta Supplies Manufacturing factory.

The availability of toners is highly dependent on global inventory levels, so the impact on supply in different regions can vary. We were in close contact with our dealer community.

The entire Konica Minolta management team is committed to ongoing measures to minimize the impact on our dealers and customers. The care and support of our dealer community is one of our top priorities. “
