Ricoh participates in the 30 by 30 Alliance for Biodiversity

TOKYO, April 22, 2022 – Ricoh Company, Ltd. today announced its participation in the 30 by 30 Alliance for Biodiversity (the “Alliance”), initiated by 17 industry, government and private sector organizations, including the Department of the Environment.

Believing that biodiversity conservation leads to truly prosperous and sustainable societies, the Ricoh Group launched the Ricoh Group Biodiversity Policy in 2009. The aim is to reduce the environmental impact associated with their business operations while preserving and improving the earth’s capacity to regenerate. Its participation in the alliance is able to further accelerate these activities based on this policy.

The Alliance is a coalition to effectively promote various roadmap measures in Japan, aiming to achieve the “30 x 30 target” (hereafter “30 x 30”) to cover at least 30% of the world’s land and sea area Preserve and protect by 2030, agreed at the G7 Summit in the UK in June 2021. A total of 116 companies, local governments and NPOs are taking part in the first phase. Besides aiming for OEM* Registering and expanding protected areas within their own properties and jurisdictions, participants will work together to achieve 30 x 30 by supporting the management of other areas even if they do not own or manage land themselves, or by contributing to 30 x 30 in include the strategies developed by the municipalities themselves.

Ricoh will help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals agreed by the international community by solving social problems through business and realizing a sustainable society.
