STS inks meet fashion moment with the debut of the industry’s first fluorescent inks for direct-to-film (DTF) printing

“We saw the excitement surrounding the black light room at a recent European Printing Event and knew now was the right time to get into the fluorescent game,” said Shahar Turgemanwho founded STS Inks in 1999. “We’re ahead of the game as the first ink company to offer the market a simple new way to literally make bespoke garments glow.”

The fluorescence is visible in black light and ultraviolet light, both of which are commonly used in concert and sports venues, as well as in other brightly lit environments. The STS Inks 8-channel DTF printing system is the only printer of its kind in the world that allows the installation of both fluorescent yellow and fluorescent magenta, as well as two white inks, without using the yellow and magenta cartridges from the CMYK ink range must be removed. The STS Inks Flexi DTF Pro Edition offers additional user-friendliness and enables the user to select and mix spot colors directly in the Editor or Production Manager, making external software programs such as Photoshop or CorelDRAW superfluous.

The many advantages of DTF over DTG (direct-to-garment) processes when using fluorescent inks include, firstly, that the fabric does not require labor-intensive pretreatment; and second, DTF uses much less ink. Where DTG needs 200% white ink, DTF only needs 70%.

The recently introduced STS Direct-to-Film (DTF) module system was developed in collaboration with Mutoh, a top-selling large format printer manufacturer. At the heart of the new system is a compact printer that measures 24 “and is built to fit on a table or roll stand in print shops of all sizes. The exclusive STS Inks DTF system is designed to be the most cost-effective and easy to use -free solution to simplify the process of quickly creating custom t-shirts and clothing.

“Mutoh America is excited about this advancement in fluorescent inks for the STS Direct-to-Film (DTF) apparel printing system,” said Brian Phipps, President of Mutoh America. “This takes the uses for more types of clothing to a whole new level for our customers.”
