The Shapeshifter, a Game Boy title from Green Boy Games, is out in July
If you’ve been longing for a new Game Boy title to relive your 8-bit childhood, then we have the answer for you – The shapeshifter, an indie title from retro developer Green Boy Games, is about to be released on July 26th. After a very successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year, The shapeshifter is released physically, cartridges, pocket guides and everything. There are even plans to bring the title to the NES.
in the The shapeshifter, you take on the role of Elliot – a normal guy who wants to spend some time in nature with his friends. After falling asleep by the campfire, distant cries for help wake Elliot. During the investigation, he finds an elf in the forest. The elf asks Elliot to save her world from an evil wizard. He grants Elliot the ability to transform into any creature he touches in order to complete this quest. However, this power will only last until dawn, so that Elliot sets off in a great hurry into the world of the elves. Along the way, you’ll solve puzzles and traverse platformer-style environments as a variety of different animals.
The physical liberation from The shapeshifter will include a pocket guide, collector’s coin, premium protective case, and (apparently) the first and only code wheel included with a Game Boy release. The game is compatible with all Game Boy handheld versions (Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, etc.).
If you’re looking for more new and original Game Boy games, you can pre-order them The shapeshifter, as well as other titles from Green Boy Games through their website. The shapeshifter 2 is already under development and should appear early next year.
