Time to dust off our vinyls while Pro-Ject prepares for the launch of the Debut PRO turntable
Are you taking a break from digital audio streaming services? If you are and are open to suggestions, audiophiles will most likely recommend turntables instead of more convenient formats. Pro-Ject may have just the thing for those making the switch to analog media, the Debut PRO. It is slim, elegant and promises exceptional acoustics when playing your records.
This is an extraordinary sequel to Pro-Ject’s 2020 debut Carbon EVO turntable. The line-up now welcomes the Debut PRO as the flagship model for 2021 and its features justify its place at the top. The company is happy to point out that they are using their new Pick it Pro MM cartridge.
Developed together with Ortofon, tests praise its high dynamic range. But there are also other elements in play that make every music listening session a wonderful experience. Pro-Ject also highlights the new tonearm of the Debut PRO. It is a one-piece carbon-aluminum construction that is compatible with high-end MC cartridges.
In order to give the user complete control over his turntable, the azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA) of the tonearm are adjustable. That way, you can try other cartridges and mats to find that sweet spot. It promises precision thanks to its electric motor and belt drive when switching between three speed levels.
Vibrations can be annoying, which is why the aluminum plate dampens them with a ring made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Not all surfaces are uniform, which is why all metal feet of the Debut PRO are height-adjustable. Pro-Ject plans to ship all orders in a few months.
